  •   Having arrived in Kenya in the hope of purchasing a motorbike it quickly became apparent this was touching on the fantasy side of life. A number of deals fell through... read more and I was frustrated and unnerved. I did not want to do a tour thinking it too organised/restrictive or skill levels too mismatched. My off road experience was limited to a couple of training camps a short trip in Asia which had been some years previous.

I touched base with Fredlink Adventure Safaris and Fred was quick to respond and helpful to the last. I told the guys what I was looking for, 5 days from Nairobi to Mombassa and it was important I saw and felt the real Kenya.

Alex met me some days later in Nairobi and he was wonderful companion throughout. It felt like hanging out with a mate and he was happy to off road adrenaline style or simply take in the sights and trot along, whatever suited my mood. That was a huge benefit.

If wild Elephants grazing by your tent and real life 'zebra crossing' doesn't take your fancy then perhaps the great lodges, wild Giraffes cutting you off or endless wildlife of every variety, be it Hippo, warthog, crocodile or chameleons (that do change colour trying to cross the road) will simply put - turn you into a Peter Pan.

What Mecca is to Muslims, Star Trek to geeks, cricket to Ozzies and Guinness to the Irish, this is the ultimate biking adventure but with a safety net in the form of Alex.

Without question Alex was an integral factor of the tour for me. Fantastic company throughout it would not have been what it was without him. His English perfect, a local Kenyan from Mombasa, he helped me with my irritating questions about wildlife, culture and off road skills.

Fear not - the office will never be further from your mind.

Enjoy and rubber side down ;)

  •   This is the group's second trip with Fred, Previous one was 4 years ago, so that tells you everything.

As at the previous trip (thru Kenia) Everything was... read more well planned and we were greatly attended from the minute we landed at Kilimanjaro until we left a week later.

Fred and the crew are great, routes were not hard or over challenging, and we felt very safe at all times.

Accommodations were nicely chosen, simple, yet authentic.

Machines were constantly maintained, and although we had one or two breakdowns, we were immediately given a replacement bike and kept going, without delays, while the crew resolved the issue.

Overall, great trip, we will return.
