GEOGRAPHY :

The largest country in East Africa, 2/3 of surface area covered with Savannah. Highlands and mountains in central and northern zone with snow-capped Kilimanjaro as the highest point in Africa (5,895 m). Two great lakes on the western boundary : Victoria and Tanganika. The Great Rift valley runs from north to south.

POPULATION :

49 million people made up of 100 African ethnic communities, a minority Asian, European and Arab groups. Highest population density in the north central region; Arusha, Moshi, Dodoma (capital city) and the coastal area; Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar being the origin of the SWAHILI culture and language.
